Last year, my sweet friend Jenny (Southern Savers) and I had a dream. A dream to bring the topics that we are passionate about on our blog, and bring them in real life to our readers. Our desire was that you felt inspired, empowered and equipped to turn the every day mundane into something magical.
What resulted was our first annual Becoming Conference. A weekend designed to bring encouragement, refreshment and tangible ideas for becoming more frugal, creative and purposeful in our day to day lives.
As women, many of us desire to be more intentional with our time and financial resources; more intentional with our family and homes, but aren’t sure how to make that happen.
From personal finance, meal planning, entertaining on a budget, thrifting, home decor, photography, fashion, trash to treasure, and more, our goal was to revolutionize the way we think, not just about our finances, but our homes. If it came to saving money, re-purposing, or creating, we covered it. This year we are expanding even more by including photography, hair, make up and fashion, as well as an optional hands on Furniture Painting and Crafting Workshop that will take place on Friday afternoon (at an additional cost).
As we gather from all walks of life, we will tackle some of those day to day issues that typically seem mundane, and invite you to join us as we create magic.
Becoming 2012 takes place Sept. 21 – 22 in Asheville, NC. Since we are all about being intentional with our finances, the cost for the entire conference will once again only be approximately $100 (based on a standard room double occupancy). This includes the conference fee, three meals and hotel accommodations.

Sharing a bit about Balancing Meal Time Mountain, cutting the food budget and my Ten Minute Dinner philosophy.

My wonderful co-host, Jenny, who joined me on this risk taking journey. What a beautiful thing it was, with a bit of bedlam mixed in, of course.

Cortney – we’d love to have you both. We had some babies join us last year and all the moms were great about if they started getting really noisy, just leaving the room to settle them. We love babies. 🙂
You would just need to make sure your room mate was ok with that, or you could always get a room by yourself (but it’s just a bit more expensive.)

I am dancing … I have been looking for this year’s info sine February!! I can’t wait to come again this year. Now… I just need to make sure I get registered before all of those other excited girls (and guys)… I remember how quick everyone was to sign up last year! I have re read my notes so often! Still trying to implement things that I want to put into my life. BUT without feeling like I am drinking from a fire hydrant! 😉

Oh I would SO love to come to this, but just 4 weeks before that I will have made the trek all the way across TN from Arkansas to pick up my daughter from camp outside Asheville, so I don’t think I’ll be able to do again. Ridgecrest is one of my favorite places on earth! I spent a summer on camp staff there and even (shh….don’t tell anyone) climbed up trees & buildings to get to the top of the building and stood right above those Ridgecrest letters!!! Fortunately it was foggy that night and no one saw us. Have a great time!!!

Wow this looks amazing!! I too am a MOPS mom… a community coach too! This reminds me of convention!! I’d love more information and to see if there is a need for parents with special needs children needing support and ideas.

hi Paula – The information is located on the Becoming Conference site. We won’t have the full agenda posted until registration opens, but based on the speakers and topics, you can primarily get the feel for the conference. It’s different though than Mops in that it’s all more “life skill” focused. My sis in love will be doing a session on mothering and I do one on Family traditions but besides that all DIY, frugal, creative topics, and even though we are all Christians, it’s not a “Christian” conference, but definitely with the call to be intentional.

Hi Sandy – We have talked a bit about videoing them, but I am not sure if we are in the position to hire a professional team to get the quality we would need for purchase. We’ll talk about it someone more because I know there is an interest.
