I’m Heading to NYC Fashion Week

Feb6

Spring Collection Payless Shoes

Yes, it’s true. Next week at this time I will be in the Big Apple taking in the sights and sounds of the big city. While I’ve enjoyed NYC quite a few times, one thing I never envisioned was heading to fashion week, but this Frugal Fashionista was thrilled to accept the invitation of Payless Shoes to be their eyes and ears at some special events.

I’m most excited about being able to take in some of the trends for the new year and tailor them to fit with our everyday lifestyle. I want to be on trend and look great without spending a fortune to do it.

Fashion Week shoe collection

As soon as I confirmed that I was attending, Fashion Week, you know the exact thought that ran through my head? It’s the same one you have when getting ready for a fun girls night out?

What should I wear?

Dressing for a few days in New York City is the best excuse to update a few of my core wardrobe pieces, plus take the opportunity to add in a few trendy accessories. I’ve mentioned it so many times, but changing up accessories is the best way to add some pizzazz to ones wardrobe.

Whether those accessories are a new handbag, scarf, jewelry or footwear, it’s the perfect way to carry an outfit from season to season without breaking the bank.

Heading to Fashion Week

Last week on Instagram, I asked what would be the top five clothing suggestions for updating my wardrobe. I loved all the opinions.
You know women and their fashion, right? There are always opinions.

Well, I have the opportunity to get a behind the scenes sneak peak at Christian Siriano’s Spring Fashion show. He is the youngest winner of Project Runaway and his style is amazing.

Thanks to Payless Shoe Source, I’ll be spending a few minutes with him before his show and will interview him (with your help, of course.) What are some questions that you’d like answered?

If you had a professional designer at your fingertips, what would you want to know? What are your biggest struggles when it comes to fashion?

Help a girl out and throw those questions in the comments. We’ll get you an answer.

Christian Siriano for Payless

I’ve been a fan of Payless for years. Not only are they the largest footwear retailer in the U.S. but they are the “go to” shoe source for every Frugal Fashionista.

Isn’t it wonderful that they want to meet the needs of our budget, but they also give us styles that keep us looking great every step of the way.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit a store lately, take a peek online at some of their new additions.

They’re fabulous!

They sent me a few pairs of the new Christian Siriano line (featured in these pictures) and I was incredibly impressed. The online pictures do not do it justice. While it’s just a “tad” too cold to wear the open toed black heels (yes, it will be a balmy 9 degrees in NYC), I’m going to rock the pumps and bundle up in my jacket and scarf.

Raising a little Frugal Fashionista

My 11 year old tried and tried to fit into these pumps because she declares she’s in love, but she can’t grown up that fast on me. 🙂

I’ll make sure and share some of the outfits next week. It’s going to be a fun few posts for all my fellow Frugal Fashionistas. Make sure you follow along on facebook and instagram if those are available, as I’ll put lots of live pictures up there.

Don’t forget to share in the comments. I can’t wait to hear some of your questions.

  3. I hope you have a great time! I look forward to hearing all about it. And can I just say I LOVE Payless shoes. My daughter wears a size 12 shoe and I love that Payless sells 11-13 shoes for women because many stores do not. In fact I just ordered my daughter 2 pairs online yesterday because they were having the BOGO sale.

  4. We LOVE Payless! It’s the only place in our town to get ballet or tap shoes. They will even special order a size if they don’t have it. Great customer service!

  5. You are one blessed lady to get to do this. Wow! I’m so excited for you. Can’t wait to read about your adventure and see the photos.

I love Payless shoes. I’ve bought them for over fifteen years. When I worked, their dressy pumps were the only shoes I could wear from morning to late night without my feet hurting. When the new colors would come out, I would buy every color. Their shoes are the absolute best wearing shoes I’ve ever bought.

    Have fun!

  6. Attending NYFW has been a dream of mine for the longest time. I see that you were invited, but there must be a way that the everyday fashionista can get there! I’m sure you felt like you were in a dream while you were attending the shows. This post has inspired me to make my dream come true!
